It’s all about pop star-schizophrenia these days. Nicki Minaj raps with her alter-ego Roman Zolanski, and Beyoncé declared, I Am… Sasha Fierce, via her 2009 album title. Following suit (literally), is Lady Gaga. For the cover of her latest single “Yoü and I,” Gaga plays her male dopplegänger, “Jo Calderone.”
Jo, whose side profile looks awfully Prince-like, comes with a back-story. He was scouted in June of 2010 and then landed the cover of a major mag in Japan. In the interview, after talking about muscle cars, Jo described the first time he met Lady Gaga, “I met her at a shoot Nick Knight was doing. She’s f****n beautiful, and funny, and interesting.” When it was time to start the shoot, Jo said Gaga calmed his nerves by saying, “‘don’t be baby, you were born this way.’ I took her out after. The rest is private.” Of course, Jo is really Gaga in drag, but we’ll go with it. Alongside the pics, Gaga Tweeted, “You will never find what you are looking for in love, if you don’t love yourself.”
The pop star promises to release the “You and I” video via her 1000th tweet—think Jo will make a cameo?
