Giles Deacon and Emanuel Ungaro part ways

After two seasons at the helm of Emanuel Ungaro, Giles Deacon has parted ways the luxury French fashion house.
In a short statement released today, Ungaro's chief executive officer, Jeffry M. Aronsson, confirmed that the split was a mutual decision.
Ungaro's spring/summer 2012 collection, which is slated to show during Paris Fashion Week on October 3, will not see Deacon take one last bow, with Aronsson stating that the collection "will reflect the work of the design team".
The house of Ungaro might need to consider installing a revolving door at its headquarters with the label ploughing through six designers in as many years following the sale of the company to internet entrepreneur Asim Abdullah for £53 million in 2005.
Outgoing designers include Giambattista Valli, Vincent Darré, Peter Dundas, Esteban Cortazar and Estrella Archs, who worked alongside artistic advisor Lindsay Lohan for one disastrous season.
It was hoped that the appointment of Deacon would usher in a period of stability for the 46-year-old label, but after the Darlington born designer showed a dark, fetish-themed collection for autumn/winter 2011 - quite a departure for an ultra-feminine label whose reputation is built upon its use of colour and print - fashion insiders began speculating that the union was not a marriage made in heaven.
Deacon will show his eponymous line next Monday during London Fashion Week.
No announcement has been made about who will replace Deacon at Ungaro yet, and with the Marc Jacobs/Dior sutuation still hanging in the balance, there will be no shortage of front row gossip over fashion week.
